Eng. Nour Al Saaideh, ECO of the Humanitarian Resilience Society,

Eng. Nour Al Saaideh is a highly accomplished expert in disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate resilience, and humanitarian response, with over 19 years of extensive experience. She is the CEO and founder of the Jordanian Humanitarian Resilience Society (JHRS), a women-led organization dedicated to building resilience and empowering communities in Jordan and beyond.

As a certified Trainer of Trainers (ToT) by UN agencies, INGOs, and USAID, Eng. Al Saaideh has trained and empowered individuals and organizations across Jordan, the Gulf, Yemen, Iraq, Oman, Tunisia, Nepal, Nairobi, and other countries in Asia and Africa. Her expertise includes DRR, risk management, reconstruction, recovery, disaster preparedness, and sustainable development.

Education and Certifications

Eng. Al Saaideh holds a master’s degree in Disaster Risk Reduction from the prestigious Defense Academy of the UK, enhancing her capacity to address complex challenges in the field. She is certified in the Sphere Standards (Minimum Standards in Disaster Response), Core Humanitarian Standards, Minimum Standards for Mainstreaming Gender Equality, PSEA, and other critical frameworks that ensure quality and accountability in humanitarian action.

Key Contributions and Leadership

  • Community Resilience Training Programs:
    As the designer of the Comprehensive Diploma in Building Resilience and Reducing Disaster Risks accredited by the Jordan Engineers Association, she has trained over 110 leaders and decision-makers to enhance resilience and disaster recovery, particularly in Jordan and Yemen.
  • Disaster Risk Studies and Assessments:
    She has led studies and assessments to integrate DRR into sustainable development, such as her collaboration with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) to strengthen municipal DRR capacities in Zarka, Irbid, Madaba, Jerash, and Balqa.

Advocacy and Media Engagement

Eng. Al Saaideh is a passionate advocate for women-led initiatives in DRR and climate resilience. Through JHRS, she has championed gender-sensitive approaches to disaster preparedness and recovery. She has also shared her expertise through esteemed media platforms like TRT, Al Jazeera, Alarabi, BBC, and more, raising public awareness on DRR and climate change adaptation.
