Project: Mainstreaming DRR into Sustainable Development Plans (2008)

  • Conducted by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in collaboration with Jordan’s Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Local Administration.
  • The study addressed gaps in disaster preparedness and prevention at the governorate and municipal levels, focusing on urban resilience and institutional capacity-building for disaster risk reduction (DRR).
  • Key outcomes included enhanced understanding among officials of DRR concepts and institutionalizing DRR systems in five major cities: Zarka, Irbid, Balqa, Madaba, and Jerash

2. Community Resilience Training Programs.
Comprehensive Diploma in Building Resilience and Reducing Disaster Risks (2023)
• Designed and delivered a 162-hour accredited training program in collaboration with the Jordanian Engineers Association Training Center and the Arab Center for Arbitration and Experts, supported by the ILO in Yemen.
• Targeted government and private sector leaders to enhance capacities in disaster recovery, reconstruction, and community resilience.
• Focused on empowering participants with practical knowledge and skills for sustainable development in disaster-prone areas

Training Course: Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR)

  • Aimed at empowering local communities to assess risks, mobilize resources, and develop resilient strategies.
  • Covered topics such as risk assessment tools, the role of local authorities, and building disaster-resilient communities

Disaster Risk Studies and Assessments.

Project: DRR and DRM Assessment for the Department of Palestinian Affairs (DPA) (9 Months)

  • Supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), this project evaluated risks and built capacities of DPA officials to implement DRR strategies in Palestinian refugee camps.
  • Outputs included a needs assessment, development of DRR training materials, and delivery of capacity-building workshops(Nour Al Saaideh Risk Ma…).

Project: DRR Awareness and Planning in Jordan (18 Months)

  • Supported by UNDRR and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, this initiative helped municipalities in Zarka, Irbid, Madaba, Jerash, and Balqa to integrate DRR into urban planning and join the “Making Cities Resilient” campaign.
  • Key outputs included creating DRR units, training officials, and developing city-specific risk management plans.
